LOS ANGELES, KOMPAS.com - Dalam acara penghormatan terakhir untuk Michael Jackson, Rabu dini hari WIB, yang menampilkan penyanyi superstar Mariah Carey dan Stevie Wonder, momen yang mungkin paling diingat adalah manakala si bocah perempuan berumur 11 tahun, Paris, menyampaikan kata-kata menyayat hati.

Paris tampak tegar di atas panggung, dengan diapit oleh kedua saudara lelakinya, dalam event yang berlangsung hampir dua jam. Dia tampil di tengah kawalan keluarganya dan di depan paduan suara yang menyanyikan "We Are The World" untuk menyampaikan pernyataan di depan hadirin yang memadati Staples Center.

Dengan dipeluk bibinya, Janet Jackson, yang membelai rambut coklatnya yang panjang dan menyuruhnya berbicara, Paris melangkah mendekati mikrofon, airmata membasahi wajahnya.

"Aku hanya ingin bilang, sejak aku dilahirkan, daddy telah menjadi ayah terbaik yang bisa engkau bayangkan, dan aku hanya ingin bilang, aku sangat mencintainya, " kata Paris sambil terisak.

Di hadapan sekitar 18.000 orang, Paris kemudian berpaling ke keluarganya dan membenamkan kepalanya dalam pelukan Janet Jackson, lalu dipeluk bergantian oleh anggota keluarga lainnya.

Memasuki akhir acara yang khusus dipersembahkan untuk menghormati Michael Jackson yang di antaranya termasuk pidato dari pemimpin hak-hak sipil Al Sharpton, para pengamat segera memprediksi bahwa untaian pepujian tanpa dipersiapkan dari Paris kepada ayahnya itu akan menjadi kata-kata yang akan selalu dikenang.

"Tak seorang pun bersiap untuk ini. Ini akan menjadi salah satu momen paling dikenang dari upacara penghormatan terakhir kepada Michael tersebut," kata sejarawan media, Ron Simon, yang menyebut ucapan Paris itu hanya bisa dibandingkan dengan hormat salut ala militer kepada mendiang Presiden John F Kennedy dari anaknya John pada pemakaman sang presiden tahun 1963.

Paris dan kedua saudara lelakinya, Prince Michael Jr dan Prince Michael II, jarang tampil di publik. Wajah mereka biasanya ditutupi topeng untuk menghindari para fotografer manakala mereka menemani ayahnya yang terkenal itu. Michael yang merasa diburu oleh paparazzi, menjaga ketat kehidupan pribadi anak-anaknya.

"Anak itu (Paris) bagaikan terbebaskan. Sungguh, topeng itu telah dilepas dari wajahnya, dan orang merasa bahwa pembebasan ini akan menjadi hal baik untuknya. Namun, dia membuka mulutnya dan mengingatkan kita bahwa dia ternyata sangat kehilangan ayahnya," kata pengamat media dari Universitas Syracuse, Robert Thompson.
